Understanding How Students Develop Multicultural Consciousness

Multicultural competence is something espoused in higher education; yet, multicultural consciousness is a more accurate goal for student development. But how do students actually develop a greater understanding of themselves and others? By discussing students "aha" moments around gender, sexual orientation, and race, presenters will identify ways that students develop multicultural consciousness from a research and student perspective. Participants will also engage in discussions around how to foster development among students on their campuses.
