Digital Masculinity: Social Media’s Influence on Undergraduate College Men

In this session, the presenters explore the complicated identities of today's undergraduate college men as they navigate pre-college notions of manhood, evolving definitions of gender, building social capital, and establishing digital presence. An overview of a qualitative research project includes: an introduction to a theoretical model of digital and masculine identity convergence; addresses implications and strategies for student affairs practitioners; and strategies for engagement – both digital and physical – with undergraduate college men.
