Help make the 2018 NASPA Annual Conference a huge success in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by serving your association as a volunteer!
Each year the NASPA Annual Conference runs on the hard work and dedication of the hundreds of individuals who volunteer their time and energy.
Below is a list of volunteer opportunities that will be available for sign-up. During the conference planning process, new opportunities will be added to the portal as quickly as they become available.
The Exhibit Hall is in need of volunteers to help with the following tasks: Check in Exhibitors at the exhibitor registration counter; Assist exhibitors during exhibit hours with any questions; Prepare exhibitor packets for registration; and inform exhibitors about rules and regulations, and report any violations of these policies.
First-time Attendee Lounge
First-time Attendee Lounge volunteers will staff this area to greet first-time attendees and answer questions related to the conference such as how to navigate the program book, selecting educational sessions, and any questions related to attending socials and receptions. Volunteers will also manage any member engagement activities that happen in this area. This is a great way to welcome professionals and students who are new to NASPA and the annual conference.
Knowledge of the NASPA Annual Conference, the local area, and activities is a must! Help participants with overall questions about how to navigate the NASPA Annual Conference, where rooms and activities are located, assist attendees with general questions regarding the conference schedule, program booklet, hotel locations, and other miscellaneous items as needed. Recommend restaurants, and help create a great experience for NASPA participants during their time in Philly!
Opening session and reception
Volunteers will be needed to perform various tasks throughout the opening session and reception. Some tasks may include VIP seating assistance, crowd control, directional signage, etc. The opening session and reception will take place at the Pennsylvania Convention Center on Sunday, March 4.
Volunteers will need to be available in the beginning and throughout the pre-conference workshop for late arrivals. If technical problems or facility issues arise, volunteers will liaison with the appropriate contacts to resolve any problems.
Please Note: Only one volunteer is needed for each workshop. You will be able to volunteer for the specific workshop you would like to attend. Volunteer positions are first come, first serve. If a workshop is no longer available, it will no longer be posted in the Volunteer Database.
Registration and Self Check-in
Volunteers will assist with helping pre-registered attendees pick-up their conference related material such as name badge, program book, conference bag, and other conference related materials. Line management assistance may be required as well.
NASPA will need other volunteers to perform special projects throughout the conference. Specific duties are yet to be determined. If interested in volunteering in this category, you will be placed where the greatest need is at the time block you specified. Volunteers in this category should check-in at Volunteer Central on-site to get their volunteer assignment.
Volunteers working in the NASPA Bookstore will stock shelves and assist customers with their purchases. During book signing events, volunteers will set up tables, manage lines, hand out sticky notes to attendees waiting in line, and take photos of attendees with authors if requested.
Virtual ticket room moderator
Volunteers working with our virtual tickets sessions will provide room moderator support as a mic runner and facilitate the Q&A between the virtual participants and the session presenters.
